Zillion sv TW 1000

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Does anyone have both zillion 21 and a steez A TW 1016? :-k
Can you please check whether the main gear and pinion of zillion 21 can swap with steez A (main gear+pinion) ???

I really like the new hypergear design for the main gear but also like the magseal too. New product line of daiwa doesnt have magseal. I think they try to reduce the size and weight. However, magseal is extremely good for saltwater fishing. I will order a replacement for my steez A if the main gear+pinion can be swaped. Thank
I think there’s a YouTube video out there that shows the two side by side. However, the name won’t show up on this site.

I plan on marsh fishing with the 21 zillion this fall. I’m also the one that posted about a lot of water intrusion when fishing in the rain. My idea is to order a few sets of the hybrid ceramic bearings. I’ll prolly get the spool, and two bearings underneath the tension knob as well. Probably cheaper than buying a gear/pinion set.

I am also extremely interested in swapping my Steez SV TW gears with the zillion1000. I have both reels, but a bit too lazy to do the test

If anybody can confirm the compatibility it'd great.

Just checked their price on PLAT. Its $100 for the set

I don't have the A. I own the sv tw and i do prefer its frame over the zillion1000, but the zillion is smoother and has a better stock spool. For the price, i would highly suggest to go with the zillion over the steez.

Right now if buying new reels I would buy a Zillion over the steez a or svtw for sure and what I have recently done. Probably not going to sell any of my steez but i am not going to buy any more new ones either.

to me the zillion feels smoother and more refined on the retrieve i havent compared casting distance with them yet but i will soon. Plus its a good bit less money and so far i dont feel like you are giving anything up.

I am a big fan and really like them so far.

Maybe this has been explained somewhere here already idk, but I'm just wondering where all the bearings are placed in this Zillion? There are 8 total and none in the levelwind. If I understand correctly, 2 for the pinion gear, 2 for the main gear shaft, 2 on the spool, and that leaves...2 on the handle I guess? Could someone please confirm? Thank you!

That’s correct for the most part. There are two, one on either side of the level wind, then 6 more where you stated:

The current JDM Zillion SV TW worm shaft has two spacers rather than bearings in a stock configuration.

2 Pinion
2 spool
2 main shaft
2 handle
1 Anti Reverse
9 Total for the new Zillion. I was not aware that the JDM model had less bearings. I know now the JDM model has smaller knobs and aluminum gears, when we first heard that news I told a newer member there was no way. He was right and I must apologize if he sees this, I just was shocked to find out one was made in Japan and the other in Thailand, with our model getting brass.

To the other member, I own a Steez A and am in the same dilemma, I have a little scratch money before our first child, not sure if the Zillion SV1000 will be that much better to get a new reel. Makes it worse that my trolling motor quit yesterday...

Now my wife approved me the budget for another Zillion. Just sitting here thinking, if I should get another Zillion (USDM this time) or another Alphas SV TW. I’m happy with both performance, alphas 10lb FC 0.10” and Zillion 15lb FC 0.13”. The new reel I want it for 12lb Copolymer 0.14” line. I like the size of Alphas better but worry about that narrow, deeper spool that would limited casting distance on larger diameter line. Do we still get 10% discount when preorder?
BTW look at my JDM Zillion and this imperfections paint, can’t believe this passed Japan QC?

Not to throw this off topic, but I just sent a Tatula 300 back that had 4 or more paint bubbles and or imperfections. I got a discount from Japan Tackle on my Morethan 1000xh because it had a large paint chip right near the mag dail.

I'm so scared of scratching this new Zillion. I keep a reel cover on even while strapped to the deck.

Good idea. Riding on the deck is how this happened to mine:

Wonder if they will address or change the paint... the old TWS variants have had different styles throughout, maybe these will too?
