Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
My Alphas SV TW has a paint bubble on the palm plate. I halfway expect that with magnesium reels, but not the plastic palm plate on an aluminum framed reel. I was a bit disappointed tbh, though it hasn't flaked or peeled at the bubble as of now.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Any pics? This is kinda ridiculous.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 07, 2021 1:10 pmMy Alphas SV TW has a paint bubble on the palm plate. Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
Maybe I missed it, but "riding on the deck" is how those scratches happened? Clearly that's from friction of some kind and I can't see how carpet contact alone would have caused anything like that. I'm going on a few months with my new Zillions now and I haven't had a single paint issue and mine have ridden on the deck quite a bit without reel covers.

Thinking the same thing…. Those are from riding upside down on the front deck while stacked on another reel possibly a drag star.bronzefly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 7:53 amMaybe I missed it, but "riding on the deck" is how those scratches happened? As a regular tourney co angler the past few years, I see it all the time.
Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
They were riding on the deck sitting next to some Mets. The Mets definitely did the damage, not the carpet.bronzefly wrote: ↑Thu Jul 08, 2021 7:53 am

I think the Shimanos did it on purpose, lol.
Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
It wasn't upside down. At least not when I strapped everything in before the boat ride.
However, I do think the Zillion rolled over sideways and the Met drag star or maybe the handle of the Met dug in just right on the top of the frame. The 15 minutes of bouncing did the rest.
Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
Did we ever confirm if the top of the frame is a a painted plastic cover like the Curado K 200? This might explain the easy scratching and dark coloration beneath.
Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
I finally got the word that some frame parts should be available in August. I plan on ordering one and doing a swap with my scratched up frame.
Once I do that, I will tear the scratched one up real good and see what it’s made of. My initial thoughts are that at least that top piece is some sort of painted plastic. We’ll see.
Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
You got the point there. It feels the same as nose part(plastic) and flex a little at very front. That maybe explain why it is so light 6.3oz for JDM.

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
Is the plastic top cover removable? What are those two screws shown in the pic? It would be really nice if it is a removable part TTT can stock. The damn thing is glued on and "part of the frame" on the 200k.

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
It's a crappy glue that can be worked with a little warmth applied and it cracks straight off - it's basically like a hot glue. I've taken off mine and friends to protect under it, as all sorts of gunk gets under there.
Wheather or not the Zillion hood piece is glued is anyone's guess - or willing to take it off. Betting Daiwa has a better cowl hooking mechanism than relying on glue of all things.

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
Those screw looks like holding the top piece to the frame. When I moved the very top edge, I can see it move from the frame.
It is weird thought, Daiwa doesn’t list the top pieces as separate parts.

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
Correct,
Daiwa will only sell you the entire frame what I can tell.
Don't worry fellas, come August, I'm ripping that frame up to see what it's about.

Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
This all makes me hesitant to buy one. I still cannot decide between the 7.1 and 8.5 either, now with the paint issues I don't know what to do. Most say this is an absolute top tier reel though.
Re: Zillion sv TW 1000
What paint issues? The guy had a pointy part or hard edge of another reel clattering against it during a boat ride.
