Daiwa Airity LT Reel

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

QD Quick Drag - is it a new feature in Daiwa reels?
Wondering how it works.
Did a little searching for the “Quick Drag” system and found out it has been around for a couple of years. See it on a lot of Carp and Surf reels, especially in Europe. It has to do with free spooling to previous drag settings with just a half turn of the drag knob. I’ve never seen it, but apparently the carp guys and many surf fisherman enjoy this feature.

I think shimano did the same thing with their drag system.
But to me it just means there is less degrees in the drag adjustment.
Isn't better to have a more adjustable drag, instead of less?

I just placed an order for a FC2500s.
I'm wondering how it will compare to my Exist FC2500s.
May order a 2000s later on if its as nice as it sounds its going to be.

My FC LT 2500S has shipped. I’m excited and hope it lives up to what’s on paper.

would be nice to see how this new Airity compares against Shimano Vanquish. on paper they look very comparable with Airity slightly more expensive.

What is the difference between the FC and LT models?

What is the difference between the FC and LT models?
In Japan, FC reels are “Finesse Custom” and are usually built on/around 1000/2000 series bodies. In this case, they offer the FC reels with different finesse (aluminum) handles shaft, and magseal at the line roller bearing removed to reduce weight. Daiwa describes these reel as “fishing below 2500” so the FC2500 is not the normal sized 2500 series reel as the LT 2500 would be.

From Daiwa -

FC: Finesse Custom
21 LUVIAS AIRITY lineup includes models with "Finesse Custom" in addition to the original model. The counts used for more delicate fishing below 2500, such as bass, area trout, aging, and mebaring, are designed to be even lighter. The body adopts the lightest compact body in the 21 LUVIAS AIRITY series, and in the original model, the handle shaft using stainless steel has been changed to a lighter aluminum shaft. In order to further reduce the weight, the mag shield of the line roller has been intentionally removed. While carefully assessing the usage environment, we pursued the optimum balance between lightness and rigidity, and completed uncompromising customization.

Thanks for the explanation. Sounds like I'd be good with the LT side. My Certate is supposed to be arriving today, although I'll be waiting another month to 6 weeks before I'm fishing. Got some PP SSV2 that I'll be putting on it. I used the 30lb test surf fishing last fall and really liked it, so hoping it performs as well in the smaller diameters. I bought 8lb and 10lb for my spinning setups. 8 for my ML setup and 10 for the M setup.
