Daiwa Airity LT Reel

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

My reel finally got here today.
I believe it was delayed some due to the blizzard of 2021.

After checking it out, for those who care, there is not a anti-reverse switch on the Luvius airity. Even though it shares the same frame as the Exist LT, daiwa did away with that feature.

I don't think the Exist LT ever had one either based on images and the Certate LT I had for a while didn't. Nice reel though!

The Airity has no anti-reverse knob...

From Daiwa Japan

Stopperless body

The body structure is simply finished by removing the stopper. By deciding to remove the stopper, which is the ingress route for water and foreign matter, not only is it lighter and more waterproof, but it is also unlucky to suffer sudden troubles in the harsh environment required for the 21LUVIAS AIRITY series and when interacting with big players. To minimize

The 18 Exist has the anti-reverse switch/knob...

What do you know, I stand corrected!
The switch does exist on Exist LT while the Airity and Certate LT will fare without.

With the current trend by both Daiwa and Shimano, I would be very surprised if Daiwa’s next version of the Exist will have the external anti-reverse knob/switch. The claim is it allows less possibilities for water intrusion, but Daiwa markets the current Exist stopper as “waterproof” which begs the question of why remove it? It seems plausible that not having an external switch reduces an area or entry point for water, dirt or grime. It also means there are a couple of less components to manufacture and install, without which, weight is reduced.

Any reviews on this reel from those that already received them? How does it compare to the Certate and Exist?

Does anyone know where this reel (Airity) is supposed to fit in the Daiwa lineup? It has one less bearing than the Luvias, but pretty much all the same tech with the new monocoque body.

Did anyone got this reel? Not the Luvias airity one. How does it compare to certate? Certate worth 150 euro more?
