That's good to know. I love my Morethan. Own quite a few steez and refused to get the morethan because it's so much more in price, that changed when the 8 came out since it has the brass gears.
Everything else is similar, morethan is a glossier paint and black with the cf accents but it has junk paint like the other steezs, it chips and flakes easily.

I wished they were all the same material, then I'd change my steez over cause I was instantly taken by the Morethan too.
But then again I ran my Steez 8 from the day it released in Asia up until the end of last year before it finally exploded, it was worked insanely hard though

The new Zillion gears are brass in the American and Australian market reels and they drop into the Steez A without modification.RMCatchNrelease wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 4:10 pmFYI...The XH gears require your reel sent to Japan for repair. My XH engaged on a cast and ruined the pinion gear. Spoke to Plat and JLS and they were told it in house repair only. If you look at the schematic, the gear set parts have an asterisk on them.jvelth74 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 8:02 amIn XH it's ZYC Alloy / C6191 Marine Bronze / Aluminium Bronze :

By the way, the gears were 7150 yen!!! A bit crazy but the reel was already in Japan. If I have to get another set I'm going aluminum from TTT.

I think the opposite, brass for Asia market zillion and duraluminum for US market ZillionBARRAMANIAC wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 9:14 pmThe new Zillion gears are brass in the American and Australian market reels and they drop into the Steez A without modification.RMCatchNrelease wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 4:10 pmFYI...The XH gears require your reel sent to Japan for repair. Re: Steez A vs. Morethan
No, he is correct. Brass gears for the US model, duralumin for the Japan model. JDM Zillion is about 3/8 oz lighter. Australia usually gets the JDM model, but might get the brass gear model this time around.eklikewhoa wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 11:01 pmI think the opposite, brass for Asia market zillion and duraluminum for US market ZillionBARRAMANIAC wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 9:14 pmThe new Zillion gears are brass in the American and Australian market reels and they drop into the Steez A without modification.RMCatchNrelease wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 4:10 pmFYI...The XH gears require your reel sent to Japan for repair. Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
Re: Steez A vs. Morethan
Are you certain there isn't any shim modification needed for dropping them into a Steez A? My Steez A/Morethan main gear is identical to my new zillion duralumin but the new zillions pinion is a hair taller but it looks like the teeth line up. I haven't had my hands on a brass set yet.BARRAMANIAC wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 9:14 pmThe new Zillion gears are brass in the American and Australian market reels and they drop into the Steez A without modification.RMCatchNrelease wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 4:10 pmFYI...The XH gears require your reel sent to Japan for repair. Re: Steez A vs. Morethan
FWIW, I ordered a set of Morethan PE SV XH 8.6 C6191 gears from Plat yesterday...
Evidently Plat will send me an invoice which I'll pay for via Zeus Secure credit card.
We shall see if it goes through?!?

Whelp, it's a no-go...Plat cancelled my order stating parts are available only for repair by Daiwa.

I'm not sure what to make of your recommendation? Can you expound further?

Re: Steez A vs. Morethan
Sure thing ... there are companies that sell gears, bearings, power trains, stuff like that to small manufacturing companies. You measure the size of the gears, the ratio of the drive gear and pinion and use them. You would be looking for a precision gear, obviously.
The problem could be cost prohibitive for a single purchase but small companies might be willing to work with you. They have inside sales people who you could talk you through it and help get you started in the right direction.
Let me know if I cleared it up or made it worse!
Good luck to you
