OG HLC Zillion is maybe the finest baitcasting reel which I have tried.

But I have found 1 Oz seatrout spoons are too light and aerodynamically not good enough for casting to headwind whit this reel. (At least then it's needed to cast with full power in every cast and Magforce in maximum and anyway thumb braking is recommended...)

But 2 Oz and 3 Oz bombardas are good despite of wind.

How wild is wild cause I have that spool in my TDZ reel
Not sure which model but I use it with blitz max and I don’t have any issues on that “wildness”
For a Daiwa they are a little fast and need some respect but their reputation is overhyped. Just give it some more spool tension and cast it two handed normally like you see the US pros on TV do. Dont do any of that lob casting or casting while palming super smooth low energy jeb bush casting and it is just fine.

Yeah, same problem; had the spool, was wild AF, sold the spool. I guess it depends on if you have room in your lineup for a dedicated bomber.
What spool did you replace it with? And do you like it more than the stock spool?

Had it in an OG Zill. Went back to the stock spool and used it happily til I bought a Bantam MGL.

A 6.3 ratio usually sucks when you are looking at an empty spool after a hyper long cast with a heavy bait. That is a big reason why this reel didn’t get more love. This reel is really only good for DD cranks and other slow and heavy reaction baits. Cranking reels tend not to be glamorous because they often end up on cheap rods made of glass. I would probably throw 1 ounce swim baits with it also.

Put a set of 7.9 gears in mine.

Would be killer on a dark sleeper rod.

Not sure what that video is about, partially because I don't speak the language. The beginning of the video shows that the spool is almost empty, so him getting spooled doesn't mean much. What am I missing?

It's a full spool. The beginning of the video he has line out in the water which is why it is partially full. The cast at the 3:11 mark time stamp is a full spool on a hard cast. Not sure what he is throwing but mine does that to 50# braid with a frog although my flight time is not quite as long.

I can spool a regular TD Zillion with a heavier frog and a heavier 50 lb. braid. The HLC will do it a little easier. You don't really want a frog that far away from you when you are fishing though.

If you're stuck on the bank you do.

tbh he is using 50lb+ line, a what seems to be a 9foot rod and an aoero dynamic lead weight, and casts like it was a casting distance tournament. I have spooled my z2020 with 50lb jbraid, a 7.2foot rod and 1.5oz musky lures. With a lead weight, it would be very easy to do.

Looks more like a 20# to me. When I spool mine of 50# my flight time/time to empty is not that long. That's a good second maybe two longer than it takes to empty mine of 50# braid. That's gotta be closer to a 20# braid. No idea on the bait he using but the point is these spools absolutely bomb if you cast them like yout not afraid of it or are afraid of it. Not sure. Definitely don't roll cast it pitch with one. Learned that one right away with mine. I really want a Z for my Hyuga 72H. The problem I have right now is that my 1 oz baits will spool both my Zillion HD Catalina spool and my IP68 HLC for 65 and 50# braid respectively. I wish the Catalina spool wasn't so shallow. It actually bombs really well but only has slightly more capacity than a TD Zillion spool.

I'm still on the hunt for the high capacity bass reel with a distance tuned braking profile that's not some fixed inductor thing. Kinda committed to the Zillion HD at this point though.
