The reel was designed with salt compatibility in mind and a significant portion of the r&d was done under those environments. The caution above makes a lot of sense however. If you lose your wit for a split second and dump it into a sand castle while landing a big snook, you could end up with a huge mess with a $500 reel. Splashes and stuff it’s made to handle with normal washing.jprice92 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 2:26 pmPolkfish1 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 9:38 amI’d think the LT 3000XH would be great for that application. I only went up to the LT 4000 for light salt application. I have an exist in the 3000 and the airity in the 4000 and the airity is just as refined minus a bearing and the anti-reverse switch. It’s a good value reel and as high end as it gets for the money IMO.
So is the reel considered salt water safe? That would be nice to have it pull double duty light saltwater stuff.

Just ordered to LT2500, going to keep this reel strictly for freshwater. Thanks for all the help!Polkfish1 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 3:57 amThe reel was designed with salt compatibility in mind and a significant portion of the r&d was done under those environments. The LT2500 seemed like the perfect middle ground for me, enough line capacity for me to run 8/10 lb flouro and still light weight.Firstoutfisher wrote: ↑Thu Nov 25, 2021 7:41 amjust curious what made you decide to go with regular lt2500 vs the FC version?jprice92 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 6:53 pmJust ordered to LT2500, going to keep this reel strictly for freshwater. Got the reel in yesterday, and it’s impressive. Reel is very smooth and feels solid
