10lb braid on metanium?
10lb braid on metanium?
Hey guys - anyone go below 20lb braid on their metanium? I need to respool, and normally use 10lb braid on my spinning sets (I have a lot on a big spool). Anyone have issues with 10lb braid digging?
Re: 10lb braid on metanium?
I use 10lb on baitcasters quite a lot and I like it. Depends on brand, roundness and thickness (mm?) though.
Re: 10lb braid on metanium?
I don't even like going that low for my BFS spools. That's like a 4# mono diameter and can get in between the spool and frame. For a reel with the capacity of the met I would 30# to 20# at the lightest.
Re: 10lb braid on metanium?
I've used 10 lb Sufix 832 braid on my Met with the JDM BFS MGLIII spool with success.
I would think digging would be an issue on the deeper spools especially if you plan on hossing anything heavy on it.

Using 10lb berkley x9 on both 70 Mets on M power setup, no problem at all.
…when does the line dig in for you guys? For me it only happens when I mess up a cast with 40lb braid + 3oz swimbait.

Works well for me. My old Metanium D7 still have Fireline Braid 15# on them. Tosses 1/4 oz. lures just a bit further. Since Sufix 832 10# is about same diameter at .20 mm it should get about same results. 20# Sufix 832 is at .23mm so not that much more difference.
slip bobbing is the laziest way to fish

Re: 10lb braid on metanium?
On bfs the lowest I went was 1lb nano fil. Did have some issue with it sliding into the spool but that wasn't the main reason why I took it off. The biggest issue was line snapping on a cast even when I softly casted it. Had 5lb power pro the longest and it wasn't bad either. On a traditional baitcaster I would not go past 20 unless you know what you are doing. I work at a bait shop and many newbies in the baitcaster world always go low for braid as they do not understand the purpose of going higher. It is quite often they complain about not being able to cast well or far because their line is digging. There will outliers but from my experiences you don't see much of that often unless you are around people who are experienced.
