Project T 22: 2 new Tatulas
Re: Project T 22 #6: another Tatula
I think in tatula 70 is same dimensioned spool than in ct Alphas? What frame is? New or same as other 'old' reel?
Re: Project T 22 #6: another Tatula
No Tatula 70 SV on Daiwa Japan's site. Looks like this one is USDM only. Instead of a Alphas we get Tatula 70 SV based on the same platform but with a long shaft spool. The drag numbers are the same as the Alphas TW so maybe the main gear is very similar if not identical. With an MSRP of $229 we should see a street price of closer to $200. Might need a Ray's inductor swap to wake the spool up but those are cheap. I was looking at Cal's Alphas TW preview and that thing has got a long and thick inductor. I'll bet this new reel is very similar.

Wait, the Alphas SVTW is overbraked too?LowRange wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 10:01 amNo Tatula 70 SV on Daiwa Japan's site. Looks like this one is USDM only. Tatula sv70 is a 30mm spool. At least according to this.

From the Daiwa US website
The literature claims Hyper Double support.
The graphic of the SV spool shows a short shaft. https://daiwa.us/collections/baitcastin ... atula-sv70

That's the same graphic daiwa uses for all their SV spool reels...including the Coastal, SV103 limited, tatula SV, etc that aren't free floating. They use the same graphics a lot. don't read too much into it.rto wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 4:04 pmFrom the Daiwa US website

Re: Project T 22 #6: another Tatula
I think US market for Daiwa reels is kind of weird with prices and products. Im not sure why would I get one of these over alphas.
Re: Project T 22 #6: another Tatula
I was referring to the 80 but you are correct. I proposed earlier that the 70 SV looked to be about a 30 mm spool which is now confirmed thanks to your link.iabass8 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 3:45 pmTatula sv70 is a 30mm spool. At least according to this.

I don't have one but it looks to be based on what I am seeing. I would definitely inductor swap one if I had one.DirtyD64 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 3:20 pmWait, the Alphas SVTW is overbraked too?LowRange wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 10:01 amNo Tatula 70 SV on Daiwa Japan's site. Re: Project T 22 #6: another Tatula
Anyone planning on getting the 70 or 80?
Just curious

Re: Project T 22 #6: another Tatula
Maybe a 70 SV. I would opt for an Alphas but they are that damn silver color. For the same street price I get what is probably going to be a long shaft black Alphas TW SV called a Tatula? I'll take that. For now I'm eying the 100 to drop an elite spool in and to pair to a cheaper solid tip MH. For a higher end version of that stick as a replacement after a few years I will consider the 70 SV. If I didn't already have the elite spool forcing my hand to a 100 I would consider both reels and probably opt for the 80 if it can skip as well as the elite spool which is actually pretty good.

Re: Project T 22 #6: another Tatula
Does anyone know where the 80 and 70 have their bearings located? It’s the same amount (7 + RB) as the Alphas so I’m wondering if they actually do have that double supported pinion. I personally wouldn’t mind the long shaft, double support is the deal breaker with Tatulas.
Re: Project T 22 #6: another Tatula
I wondered this too. I assume the Alphas is: 2 spool, 2 pinion, 2 main gear, 1 anti reverse, and ??? Maybe levelwind?dennis_rf wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 2:20 amDoes anyone know where the 80 and 70 have their bearings located? For the Tatula, it is for sure: 2 spool, 1 pinion, 2 main gear, 1 anti reverse, and 2 in the handle, for 8 total.
What scares me is if the Alphas SVTW has one knob per handle and they removed a main shaft bearing for some reason. I'm pretty sure the old SV105 had no knob bearings and 2 on the mainshaft, had 7 total. I wish someone with the new Alphas could clarify. I know Hobie has broken one down on the Tube.
Re: Project T 22 #6: another Tatula
I have the Alphas and there are only bushings in the knobs. The 7th bearing is on the level wind
