Swapping 2012 Aldebaran BFS XG-2009 MG7 gears

Anyone know if the gears from the 2012 Aldebaran XG 8 speed gears will fit in a '09 Aldebaran MG7?
Looking to speed up an old MG7.

I don't think this is possible, although there was a faster brass gear set 7.7:1 from the Brenious.

The Tackle Trap used to carry gear kits IIRC for the Alde MG7.

aldebaran MG7 is same frame as core 50mg7 Brenious and 2012 BFS XG, gear should be interchangeable. Don’t forget to get gear set main and pinion gear.

Have you tried to use the 12 BFS gear in an 09 Aldebaran? I found some gears for the 12 Aldebaran at Plat Japan, but there is no return on parts if they don't fit. I'd like to make sure before I buy them. Thank you!

I see the reason why not? Same frame, same diameter gear just different gear teeth. Core 7.1 and Aldebaran BFS XG 8.1 are aluminum gear while Brenious 7.7 and Curado/Chornarch 50e 6.4 are brass gear.
I understand the risk, you might wait for those that do the swap themselves.

Ah good to know...I just now realized the 2012 Aldebaran BFS is the same frame. I just looked up the TT review again, where it's compared to the T3 Air. Crazy to think the boys in this review are probably in their 20s now.

Or you can try to contact Jun and Japan Tackle, he is always great help regarding parts and compatible. He sells parts too might even be cheaper than plat after shipping cost.

Did you try the gear swap? I've had my share of Aldebaran Mg/Mg7's, XT1000's, and Curado 50E's and at the moment, I think that I have 4 12 Aldebaran BFS XG's and I have never thought that they had the same frame as the other reels that I mentioned. I have always thought that the 12 Aldebaran BFS XG was a little bit smaller.

I just rechecked and I think that the 12 Aldebaran BFS XG looks and feels smaller than the Aldebaran Mg-7 and the Scorpion XT1000.
I can tell you for a fact that they don't share the same spools and the drag stars are not interchangeable.
