Steez A II Tws

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Curious if this reel will be the segue reel for Daiwa, until a replacement of the 2019 Morethan is made available.

Better get our JDM gear now.

Bank of Japan just threw a wrench in the entire global economy and widened their bond yields. The Yen just got a lot stronger and looks to keep headed that way into the next year.

Thanks for the heads up.

Can’t tell the difference other than the boost spool

Looks like they just dropped a boost spool in it to give it the HLC performance with the same size spool as a normal Steez. The color looks like the Steez hlc to me but I can’t really tell. I like the current Steez hlc for the 36 mm spool it has

What would be performance difference when I use an identical spool in Steez A II vs 2021 Zillion TW?
What one reel will do better what other won't?

I took my Zillion HD boost spool out of the Zillion and threw it in my Steez A a few months ago. I wasn’t really wowed by it so I eventually put it in a 2021 7:1 standard Zillion I use to throw lipless baits. It does really really well for those applications and has only backlashed once and it was my fault. I was trying to find the outer limits of the combo. It turns out brake setting three is it or at least it was for me. I was getting just dumb distance out of it and got a little big for my britches and put my back into it. The combo blew up on me but the backlash was still manageable. To be fair, I definitely get enough distance out of the standard spool in the Zillion but just wanted to experiment a bit.

The Zillion HD spool casted different in a Zillion 1000 than it did in the Zillion HD?

It did, I think because what seems like a stronger braking profile in the HD. The spool definitely feels a bit more free in the standard Zillions but not wild like some of the reports I’ve seen from the Steez HLC. I haven’t compared part numbers to validate differences in brakes between the reels, simply basing my thoughts off of perceived performance variations.

Thanks for the feedback. This is very helpful to me on my quest to make a black Zillion 1000. I think I need both reels and some parts swapping to make a silver Zillion HD too if a magnet swap is in order
