Steez A II Tws

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

Disappointed that it doesn't come in 5.3 this time around. And it definitely went up on price from 4 day's ago

Same frame again. How boring. Get yourself a Boost spool, install it in your Steez and called it a Steez A 2.

Steez CT frame with 34mm spool when?!

I also prefer a larger diameter spools for generating better IPTs, compatibility of other factory and aftermarket spools, and longer casting per outgoing spool rotation. That's part of the reason why I haven't picked up a current Alphas TW because it's a smaller spool than the OG.

The Zillion HD spool casted different in a Zillion 1000 than it did in the Zillion HD?
It did, I think because what seems like a stronger braking profile in the HD. The spool definitely feels a bit more free in the standard Zillions but not wild like some of the reports I’ve seen from the Steez HLC. I haven’t compared part numbers to validate differences in brakes between the reels, simply basing my thoughts off of perceived performance variations.
Thanks for the feedback. This is very helpful to me on my quest to make a black Zillion 1000. I think I need both reels and some parts swapping to make a silver Zillion HD too if a magnet swap is in order
I really wish Daiwa would make a standard black Zillion so we didn’t have to.

That's what I plan to do. I already have 3 of the Zillion G 1000 and have a Zillion 1000 HD on the way. The HD will have a black and red scheme with a red sv boost spool on the way and gomexus red star and black/red 100mm handle. The Z boost spool i intend to use in my frankenzillion, A zillion G 1000 I put a OG zillion main gear with steez A pinion and the OG zillion drag stack with a measured 9.5kg of drag on a H rated rod. But for power my favourite zillions are the Zillion 10.0R with 6.3:1 gears.

I am in the same boat for the alphas.

Damn, sounds like a straight up badass build on that Frankenzillion. So which OG Zillion gear ratio and Steez A pinion did you use to make the pairing compatible?

I used the 6.3:1 steez A pinion and OG zillion main gear. If I had access to a small lathe with collet chuck I would be able to use any OG zillion gear set as the OG zillion pinion needs to be machined to fit the pinion yoke

Noice!

I have a FrankenSteez Ltd SV 105 that Ian helped tune and polish. I usually have an Megabass IS finesse spool in it for my mag-finesse uses. Otherwise, it has a 102 mm ZPI swept carbon handle, silver colored Zaion skeletal knobs, Steez EX 7.9 brass gears, Zillion drag washers and Carbontex, German GRW ceramic hybrid bearings, and the factory 105 SV spool has a Type R+ inductor spring with the same GRW bearing upgrade.

This is a crazy performing mag-finesse reel that has over 18lbs of smooth powerful drag and takes in well over 33" IPT.
