SV boost and shallow SV boost spool question

Reels are the hottest topic for TackleTour. Everyone wants to know what the latest and greatest is and how they compare to the old guard. What's the best for light stuff, or what's your suggestion for heavy cover. Do we really need different retrieve ratios? It's all in here.

SV boost and shallow SV boost spool question

Post by Hogsticker2 » Mon Dec 18, 2023 10:55 am

Is anyone running either of these spools in the original Steez SV, USDM SV103 or one of the JDM limited models? Curious what the performance might be like.

I heard they are good but wild. Like 75% of the brake settint needed to tame the spool. I like my ZPI RC spool in my limited. The weak magnets work well with the big inductor on those spools.

I threw an SV boost in an SV103 to try and didn't care for it. You could definitely notice the controlled braking '(in a good way if you want to just set and forget) within low/mid/high but it felt over braked to me personally. Still prefer the 1016 SVTW in the SV103. Boost spool feels really nice in the 16' steez SVTW. Can't help on the OG steez.
