Another vote for the FG…I rarely have to retie it because if I do break off it’s always at the lure/bait end of the leader. I run it through T-Wings, multiple large fish, and weeks without having to retie. What’s not to like?

I’d rather tie a good knot once a week and have confidence in it than tie a sub par knot every other day and be afraid of it every time I set the hook.
X2

Taking my time on the couch once in a while to tie. My oldest FG which is still in use is on my big pike jerk setup and close to a year old. As long as the leader is fine, there’s nothing to worry about.

It took me a while to master the FG but now that I’ve got it down I can usually do it in 5 minutes. 26-20 weaves, 3 alternating half-hitches, and a 5 turn Rizutto finish = 100% confidence for me.

2 minutes. 3 if I’m not focused. Tiny bit of superglue on the rizzuto finish and this thing will last forever. Using a snap to change lures. Only losing leader length when breaking off or when there’s wear on the leader. So depending on the application, I’ll go up to 4m (twice rod length) leader so I don’t need to worry about having to tie a new FG knot in a while.

Fwiw, I've went 30# braid to 25# copolymer for 15+ years now, and I've never had a break at the uni to uni knot I tie. Ive broken off at the lure, but never at the connection knot. To be fair, I never reel the knot onto the spool, though.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Uni Knots are good, same with the ALbright and Alberto.

But....the FG knot is hard to beat with its strength and how it flows right through rod guides.

5 minutes is generous, but I’m very meticulous with my knots and take my time. Like I mentioned earlier, it lasts for weeks and hundreds of casts withs zero issues and I’ve yet to break one. It’s also the most thin braid+leader knot possible. It works for me.

I tie the FG with a knot assist tool the day before, then coat the knot with a small drop of UV Knot Sense glue, on the water if I have to retie my leader, I use a 7 turn up/down Alberto, the key to both knots is to cinch them down very tight when you are done
