I use 30lb braid to a fluoro or mono leader. Usually 14-18lb Shooter or 18-22lb Defier Armillo. Getting good action out of a rip bait is easy with no stretch braid.

I second the 30# braid. You could go with a 10-12# fluoro leader or straight braid for jerkbaits and a mono leader or straight braid for topwater. If it's a walking bait, definitely use a mono leader of 14-16#, maybe more. No reason to go light on the leader for that.
This is the way.

20-30# braid with a fluoro leader is a good sweetspot for a reel like that.

This is the ticket. ;)

I will only add check the dia of the braid. I look for 10lb mono equivalent so the lure runs near max listed depth. tried 30lb suffix 832 and found it to be too thick (for me). Went to Yozuri superbraid 20lb; based on Aquaholik braid testing

13lb Armilo for fall and early spring jerkbaits. Switch to 15lb Armilo starting with the spawn for 1.5 squarebills and thru the summer for smaller topwaters. For larger topwaters on a more powerful rod, I use 30lb braid to CXX leader.

I was up to 22lb Armilo BUT Sunline 16 lb flouro for jerkbaits.

Sorry to resurrect an older thread, but I was pretty surprised by the heavy-line responses here. Would you change your recommendation if you were throwing a jerkbait-only setup? I'm thinking of moving all the way down to 8lb Sniper this year for throwing Vision 110s.

8# is pretty thin unless you're fishing in clear water reservoirs that don't have much cover. I fish 12# Sniper or Invizx (just whatever I end up having on hand) and I feel like it's just enough.

For me the only reason for going to 8 pound test would be for more ( different ) action. And something I always wondered about - If fluoro has a similar refractive index as water, in the middle of the water column, :?: why would 8 pound test be less visible as say 15 pound test ?
