I hadn't picked up any line yet, waiting to see if TW does their Christmas sale. I will grab about $100 of 10 percent off gift card and use that. I still haven't made my call on which small spinning reel, the JPY has dropped again too, making me wish I had picked another Stradic or tried a Caldia when they were each around $130.

I'm in the same boat, I can continue to use 15lb 4orce, but I want quieter through the guides, a bit more casting distance (15 4orce casts very well) and smoother knot connections. This said, 4orce is tough, strong, durable, cuts through grass/weeds, and is fairly abrasion resistant as a braid. It also holds its form/body well and is not so wispy that it causes a lot tip tangle.

Haven't tried that 4 strand either. I did try Maxcuatro, had a 20lb test sample with a Chronarch MGL I bought. I was not a huge fan of the noise or feel but it was tough too, an overall decent line. I have noticed diameter is key to casting. For me, we always used Sufix 832 which is crazy thick. I used 15lb, switched to 10lb, then switched to 8lb. Eventually it was too thick for crappie and light duty, so I tried Nanobraid. I have also tried: SuperSlickV1, regular PowerPro, Nanofil, Fireline, cheap Spiderwire, and maybe one or two others.

I actually like 30 SS8 V2 on a BC, but I don't like it on spinning.

I think I'm gonna go 12-14 Nanobraid and 22 YGK Soul.

Tufline 4orce 15lb is .006/.153...same as 16lb YGK Soul ratings. I am very intrigued with the YGK 22lb however.
My guess is the Tufline label is wrong, just like almost every other US braid is mislabeled when it comes to dia and breaking strength.

I suppose I'll find out when I get some 22lb YGK in to compare. Thanks for your recommendations.

I just received some YGK X8 Upgrade in 40lb...dang, this is thin stuff, thinner than 15lb Tufline 4orce and feels even slightly smaller diameter than X9 20 lb, mostly due to a rounder shape and uniformity IMO.

I have it on my Ian Tuned Steez Limited 105 SV on a custom Lamiglas Infinity 873 at the moment but it's so thin, I really want to see how it handles the 1/8-1/2 oz baits I run on this combo. I may just put it on my Certate 2510R-PE paired to a Shimano Hard Rocker 8'3" MHF since it's literally as small in diameter as some manufacturers 10-15 lb 8-weaves...so far, I'm impressed with the initial feel and quality of the line.

I have used x9 (30 and 40lbs) and J Brand Grand x8 (20lbs). According to the spec, 30lbs x9 is thinner than the 20lbs Daiwa. I can't tell the difference in the thickness. They're about the same to me.

To me, the Daiwa seems to casts a bit better, but the difference isn't big. I like both, and it's kind of hard to make up my mind, when I need to buy a new spool.
