Chatterbait Advice
Chatterbait Advice
So I recently sold of a ton of old tackle and clothes at a yard sale, had a good pull of around $400. I plan on getting a new ML or M casting setup, but would also like to get a few new baits and improve my collection after ridding myself of junk. Concerning chatterbaits, I would like to grab a few Jackhammers, but they are so expensive. Concerning the Zman Custom, I am hunting more 3/8oz lures, the 1/2 and above are a bit heavy for the river I fish. I used to want them to stay WAY down and overstocked on heavy bladed jigs. Unfortunately my collection of D&M piranhas (original discontinued) are all 1/2 or over.
Back to the Zman custom, is the 4/0 or 5/0 version better? I just didn't know how different they are. Any other suggestions for 3/8 size chatters or any other brand/model would be great too. Thanks for any help.

I’ve had very good success with the
Picasso Shock Blade Pro. I fish the
upper Niagara River where losing baits
is inevitable. That makes Jackhammers
too expensive for this application.

Jack + Hammer
Jackhammer all the way
Jackhammer all the way

If you're fishing a fairly light setup, you might look at the Chatterbait Minimax when it comes out.

Phenix makes some good ones too

I don't know why nobody ever mentions these, but the Steez Cover Chatter chatterbaits are amazing.

Jackhammer is my favorite, the Picasso Shock Blade is another good one.

Re: Chatterbait Advice
I'd pick the shock blade over a jackhammer, I'd even pick the project z chatterbait over the jackhammer as I've never been impressed with the jackhammers, my experience with them is that they are too erratic.

I like the Project Z chatterbaits.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

I got the Steez Cover Chatter in ½ oz on Ebay from Japan. It was like $20. I broke it off on the first fish I caught on it. Funny since I have never broke off a Jack Hammer.

Re: Chatterbait Advice
Nice to see another chatterbait with a decent weedguard. Love the Break Blades titanium weedguard. It runs through grass like it’s not even there. Might try one of these soon.
Re: Chatterbait Advice
JB. What trailer do you like on the break blade? I fish Seminole quite a bit as well and have done very well with the jackhammer of course but I’ve started to experiment with the break blade and osp bladed jig.
