Re: Reinforcing existing jigs/spinnerbaits with hand tie
Steve coats and clark upholstery thread is very strong it will not break down is water wont slip and you dont need glue to hold it in place. Ive been tying jigs for a very long time for 44 years now ive used this thread for the hole time. If you look at the picture with the jig head with the thread tied to it and look close you'll see why your skirt will never slip. It only takes 3 to 4 wrap and 2 to 3 half hitch knots pulled down tight to hold the skirt in place. I tie finesse jigs reg skirt jigs spinnerbait skirts buzzbait skirts and bladed jig skirts i also tie buck tail a flux bucktail with the same wraps. With no glue I use silicone material Round rubber skirt material in 3 grades fine, reg, heavy grade material i use flashabou and silicone accent material bucktail accent in all my jigs. Reinforcing skirts with this thread is a quick easy way to keep your skirts in place without them failing. If you buy banded jigs spinnerbaits buzzbaits or chatterbaits with banded skirts tie them up whne you get them. You wont lose a skirt or will you ever have on slip down.
