Keitech Swing Impact Fat 3.8
Keitech Swing Impact Fat 3.8
I am trying to find the best swimbait head for the swing impact. I bought some of the J-Will light wire but I don't know if the hooks are big enough. Any advice you can give would be great!
Re: Keitech Swing Impact Fat 3.8
try using belly weighted hooks with the screw locks.....4/0 or 5/0 in size are what i usually use with the 4.8" ones....eagle claw or owner ones.....

I like the strike king heads, they are pretty good on the keitech's.

How would you rig the 5.8 for fishing rock piles in 5'-12' of water. I saw the Texas rigging option on the Keitech site. Has anyone tried that?

I really like the VMC swimbait jig heads. They've got a holder and the heads look very realistic.

Heard good things about Freedom Tackles Hydra Hybred jig heads - you can switch out hook sizes.

@crimsonpride, you could try a football head... Maybe a lighter weight with a bigger hook?

Its quite astonding all the detailed and intricate of water experimentation that comes to perfectly matching up jig heads for ultimte permformance.
Here is my go-to swimbait rigging methods tested on smallmouth bass. I dont fish to many weedy areas for large mouth but here's what i got
Fishing 3.8 Swimbaits on Spinning Tackle
1'-to-8' 1/16th oz Owner ball head
9'-to-13' 1/8th oz Owner ball head
13'-to-20' 1/4oz Owner ball head
20'+ 3/8 oz Owner ball head
Save you google eye for Easy Shiners. These ball heads and 3.8 Fats are a match made in heaven the jigs available from Owner have the perfect hook length to be located in the best area for hook ups and the hookshank through the body of the swimbsit does not hinder boot-tail what so ever. When fishing these baits in rocky hard cover, Owner hooks stay sharp after rubbing against hard structure. Many hooks like Gamakatsu and Trokar are sharp out of the box but the tips roll over and lose their point on the first hang up. The only other hook manufacturer that stays sharp without rolling is the mustad Ultra Point hooks.
If you are planning on getting into tungsten jigs for a less bulky head, most sensitivity, and glory or trophy fish need to be caught.
Check out the Clam Tungsten Roundball jigheads. Very similar to the uses of the owner ball heads and feature the Mustad no roll tip. These also come in a cool assortment of colors to maybe match the color of your impact.
These jigheads are tried and true and have been testest against many other companys offerings and these hooks are absolutely the finest hooks made for light wire swimbait fishing, there have hand zero problems handling numerous 5+lb smallies from depths exceeding 30 feet.
Favorite Jig heads for deeper and heavier jigs on baitcast rods. I like mustad elite series darter heads with a strong great fitting mustad ultra point hook that gives better hook sets in super deep water that can be a challenge for spinning rod set ups
1'-10' 1/4oz
10'-20' 3/8oz
20'-30 1/2oz
30'+ 3/4oz
If you liked the Clam tungsten jigs, dont be afraid to fish them on a good not super stiff baitcast rod and just follow the mentioned weights accordingly
Also dont be afraid to go up sizes if wind is brutal or down sizing on tough bluebird sky days.
There are many more but these are tested and proven for performance with 3.8" fat boys!
