Punch baits

Post by jerkbait22 » Tue Feb 23, 2021 5:20 pm

What are your favorite plastics for punching milfoil? I was looking at the netbait dagger and big bite baits BFE. I’ve done well with spicy beaver. What’s strange is I’ve never had any luck whatsoever on the D Bomb which is supposed to be one of the best punch / flip baits.

Bummer the DBomb doesn't work for you.

Rage Bug for me. Slim enough in shape to not get hung up via long appendages, enough action to draw bites.

I like the PowerBait Thief. Mostly because I have TONS of them. They do produce for sure to. Decent durability and and be used many times by cutting or biting the tip ones that gets worn out. Once it gets too short, becomes a jig trailer

Tube on a 4/0 EWG ringed hook with a 5/8 oz tungsten is my go to for flipping foil and that is what I do in the summer if I’m not fishing for smallmouth. Strike King Punch Bug is also another option if you don’t like fishing tubes.
