Mottled Tubes?

Post by Drakestar » Thu May 19, 2022 12:07 pm

Does anybody know of a tube that comes in mottled colors? Meaning a base color with splotches of an accent color. I'm trying to match some local crawfish, which have that spotted dark pumpkin/orange-red color to them. I got some Big Bite tubes in Green Pumpkin Orange Firetail, but the orange is on the inside, and I don't see any tubes on TW that look the way I'm hoping. (There's a bunch of beaver-style baits that do this mottled look, though, i.e. the actual Sweet Beaver in Hematoma or Delicious).

For reference, this is the mottled look I'm after, of course - but in a tube!

Heh. Yeah, I was just looking at the dye section on TW instead. If anybody has a recommendation for which one to get (I figure I'll want to add orange or red to a green pumpkin base, I'm all ears.

Check out River Rock custom baits. They might have a few.

find a custom bait maker (lots of facebook groups dedicated to soft plastic bait making!) with a tube mold and can make swirls or one that is able to hand dip them. i make small injection tubes, 2.5 and 2.75", but im not good at swirls.

Didn't see any mottled patterns on the River Rock site (but the tubes look good). I tried added orange accents to existing green pumpkin tubes (via Spike It pens and dyes) and they don't come out brilliant enough (no huge surprise there). So yeah, I think my next attempt will be using a bright orange tube as a base (there are some around) and darkening them via Spike It pens, instead.

I found a good base tube and colors to get the look I want. Need to find out if they actually draw more bites than the fire craw colors I've been using :) (I might dial the orange back down a bit...)
