Sleeper Gill
Sleeper Gill
I’ve tossed it around a couple of times but I’m not sure if I’m:
1. Working it properly.
2. Correct Locations.
Anybody doing well with it?

Re: Sleeper Gill
Have you worked it like a jig?
Re: Sleeper Gill
No, that was probably coming soon though. I was using it near sunken brush piles and a couple of bridge pilings.

Re: Sleeper Gill
How's the tail kick?
Re: Sleeper Gill
I was fishing it slow and subtle, not real “pops” or big lifts. The tail kicked well though

Re: Sleeper Gill
When I noticed your message I had a Eureka moment, there’s a spot in a back cove where people dropped a few brush piles just filled with panfish. I know where I’ll be headed!Gone Phishin wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 4:43 pm
Re: Sleeper Gill
Similar to the dark sleeper, I catch some fish swimming it. I catch more working it like a jig.
Also skips well, to get it back in the cover.

I got a few yesterday. Noticed that they’ve changed (upgraded?) the weed guard: instead of split fins all the way down, the plastic in front is joined together until it reaches the top, and lays on top of the hook point when brushed down. Feels a bit sturdier and might come through grass better but I’m curious about hookup ratio (I’ve never had a great ratio even on the old Dark Sleepers). Will try this weekend.
