Ultralight Topwater
Are there any ultralight topwater lures out there? I am talking under 3.5g. Seems like the smallest is 50mm 1/4 oz poppers and 1/4oz walking baits. Been scouring the JDM websites in search of some. So far I've found
megabass tiny siglett(wing style topwater cicada imitation)
OSP bent minnow 76(havent tried these but 76mm @ 4.3g)
I am specifically looking for topwater lures to use for trout. I know this isn't a traditional way to fish for trout but I love topwater and I want to try it.

Rebel makes a 3 pack of tiny topwaters, iirc. Saw them at Wallyworld.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

Re: Ultralight Topwater
A few jdm offerings that I’ve use are
Duo Koshinmushi 30mm 3.1g
Duo Yurapen 48mm 2.5g
Duo Pocopoco F 40mm 3.0g
Storm Gomoku Pencil 45mm 2.7g
Smith Mebapen 45mm 3.2g
They make the duo pocopoco in a sinking version and a jr size of the smith mebapen. All these lures would work for trout with the stock size treble, all I believe around size 12, or barbless singles. They also work for panfish or small bass. There are several more that I can’t remember off the top of my hand nor can I seem to find them online as easily as I use to.

The smallest Hula Popper is 1/8 ounce.
Rapala does have an 1/8th ounce popper too.
It's fun to fish for trout on topwaters.

slip bobbing is the laziest way to fish

Not much on looks but very effective at times is the smallest hollow tube you can find stuffed with a piece of foam such as from a disposable earplug and rigged with a light wire Aberdeen hook. There’s been summer nights where I went on a killing spree with that.
Re: Ultralight Topwater
Eurotackle has the z-popper. It's 1.75 inches and 1/8oz picked up a couple to try next summer and they look great but haven't had them on the water yet.

If you have an academy sports near you they have a house brand h2o express 5pc UL kit that has a little spook walking bait and a little prop bait that both weigh 3.35g on my scale. The other 3 baits are a shallow crank, deep crank and lipless crank all in the 3.2-3.5g range.

Academy was one of the highlights of visiting my daughter in NC, she moved back recently so not sure when I’ll get back. Their house brand baits are excellent quality, even the hardware is pretty good and the prices can’t be beat. Oh well, there’s always their online presence.ss30378 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 8:07 amIf you have an academy sports near you they have a house brand h2o express 5pc UL kit that has a little spook walking bait and a little prop bait that both weigh 3.35g on my scale. The Z-Popper is pretty nice. I have got bluegill, trout, crappie and of course bass on them. They cast nice in the wind too.

Re: Ultralight Topwater
Aliexpress has a few. The ones on the left and middle are all topwater. The bottom poppers are probably 1g (or maybe even less)

its almost like the hookuptackle read my mind. Got a couple z poppers from eurotackle and some goodies from thehookuptackle's cyber monday sale. Most excited about the lucky craft b straight(some kind of micro propbait)
