The new Daiwa Luvias Airity Finesse Custom reels are extremely well made and super smooth. Built on the Exist frame, they match in almost every way to the Exist. The only “visible” difference is in the marketed “one less bearing“ than the Exist, and that is the spool support bearing. I picture the 18 Exist 1000 and the new 21 Airity FC 2500 and the frames appear identical. I made some measurements to compare, and they are the same. Obviously, the rotor and spools are different.
This reel is really surprising. It is every bit as smooth as the Exist. Neither of the reels, however, have zero feel inertia on the start up. There is a noticeable amount of pressure when engaging the motion. After startup, the reels are incredibly smooth and spin rotation is almost self propelled. I absolutely love this new reel and will most certainly be getting more to add to my ultralight arsenal. Great job Daiwa...!!!

Good info. Will probably acquire one of these down the road.

I do agree the Luvias airty does take a little more to turn the handle but its not much. Probably just the heavy grease used on the gears.
I find that my Exists' are easier to turn and have less rotational inertia. Perhaps with more usage the Luvias airty will lighten up as well.
So far I've use my two Luvias Airtys' on two outtings along side with my Exists'. Both are awesome reels. I'm liking them more than my two Stellas.
I use to have only shimano spinning reels. Now most of my spinning reels are daiwa.

Nice! What do they cost?
Re: Daiwa Finesse Custom 21 Luvias Airity
Pretty common to find them under $500. A very nice reel given its build.
