UL Guide Setup
UL Guide Setup
What would you use for a 6'6" UL rod and a 1000 sized reel?
I tought at something like: 20, 12, 8, 6, 4, 4, 4, 4.
Would it be ok?
I'm asking this because some St.Croix SCII 6'6" UL 2pcs. blank is ongoing and next month I will have to start building it.
Thx!

Re: UL Guide Setup
I just built a 6'6" ul mhx blank for a friend of mine to use with a stradic 1000. Used 16-12-7-4's. Seems to work very well.

Re: UL Guide Setup
I'd probably get rid of the 8 and 6 and use a 7.
I'm doing my spinning rods with 3 sizes of high frames and then one running size.

Re: UL Guide Setup
The best thing to do would be to buy a cheap set of all sizes and use them for test casting.
That said, I usually use 25Y-16Y-10Y-7V ...and then micros to the tip. If you are using braid, you could certainly go smaller.

Re: UL Guide Setup
I will use both (mono and braid) and I will fish it from a small inflatable boat.
Thanks!
