Rod set-up Question

Post by donholton » Tue Mar 29, 2011 1:03 am

I'm building a rod to eventually be used with a Shimano Stella 1000, but I don't have one yet. Does anyone know the distance from the bottom of the foot to the center of the spool and also the spool diameter. I have a 2500 but I would think the 1000 would be a little smaller. Thanks

The last couple 1000 series Shimano's I've built for had a 42mm spool. Used size 20 Fuji first guide.

Thanks Matt, do you remember if the 1000 is a shorter from the foot to the spool than the 2500?

I believe it is.

I can verify when I get home. I have a 1000 Biomaster and a 2500 Ultegra on my work bench right now.

1000 Biomaster (left) vs 2000 Ultegra (right).

The 2000 and 2500 have the same body, but different spool.

Thanks again Matt, I'm building a 7'6" 5wt spinning rod to throw 1/8 and 1/4 oz jigs to white bass. The handles done, now I can set up the guides and someday hope to get a used Stella.
