Point Blank Rods BFS Build

Post by Cal » Thu Feb 25, 2021 6:04 pm

Alright... here's the result of my Point Blank Rods BFS build.. this is the PB701LXF blank:

From butt to tip
- CFX + Fuji EVA Butt
- CRB AAWC Winding Check
- No Rear Grip
- Fuji SKSS Split Spinning Seat with Fuji WCS Graphite Nylon Winding Checks
- Fuji Ti/SiC + Recoil Guide Train
- Fuji KG Arowana Tip Top
- Pigmented Epoxy Finish

- Total Build Weight : 2.9 oz

Color scheme is to match my favorite color finesse worm, Morning Dawn. Rod shown here with my 2004 Personal Order TDZ in Pink with a grey ZPI Mg spool.... M-Ito shown here with the spool from the Megabass FX68L as an alternate to match... Line is Sunline Sniper BMS. Will fish it this coming weekend to see how it feels, but now I'm matching Rod to Reel to Bait to Line ... my madness knows no bounds

Absolutely love that your inspiration was your favorite color trick worm. That's what it's all about ๐Ÿค˜

Thanks  My NFC X-Ray DS 6100-1 build is purple because I wanted to fish it with a tricked out Alphas but ended up putting my Conquest BFS on it instead ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ ... Alphas goes better with the NFC X-Ray SB 722-1 I built. That rod's color scheme is a mix of purple, green, and gold but it turned out a lot more green than I intended. Oh well, gives me something to do at least.

You would be able to cover the spectrum that way: finesse, crankin', plastics, jigs, larger baits.

Well, if you have a champagne gold PO you are ever looking to get rid of...in my best greasy used car salesman's voice, "may I call ya friend?"

That is really stunning.

How do you grip it when casting? I keep thinking about cutting the trigger off of my fluke rod for easier palming while working the lure, but I am not sure how I would like casting w/o it.

I always use two hands to cast, so it's never an issue not having a trigger. Quite the opposite. I find it annoying.

I guess I use the trigger as a sort of "brace" on the cast, like I keep my pointer finger indexed on the rod and use the pressure from the back on middle finger on the trigger to help keep my thumb, which is hovering over the spool, in place and steady.

But maybe I just cast like a weirdo?

Take a rod you donโ€™t care about, cut the trigger off, sand the edges smooth, and take it for a spin to see how it feels for you! ... Zander canโ€™t wrap his head around my crazy wraps ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Hah, I know, but I am going to feel like a real chump if I end up hating it and then have to see it every summer, standing in my wife's garden, living the rest of it's sad life out as a tomato stake.
