RodGeeks CARBON 4 SERIES - C4711XHF

Post by jbabin193 » Wed Jun 16, 2021 6:56 am

Checking to see if anyone has experience with this blank. I have built on the HMF which has a lure rating of 1/2 - 2oz. The XHF (same length) lure rating jumps up to 3-8oz, however the tip size is the same as the HMF and the butt diameter is only .620 in (.056" more than the HMF). To me it seems like this blank is no where near the 8 oz rating and should cap out around 3oz.

I am considering it for a punch rod application. Intuitively I think it would be good, however the lure rating seems way off and is throwing me off. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I've built on the SCV version. As a punch rod The thing measured out over a thousand grams for power.

The 70HF was around 800 grams of power.

The only stuff I've ever measured with that kind of power are big swim bait blanks, muskie blanks, and saltwater blanks. Its a beast.

Oh wow... that's powerful. Could be it's a swimbait or muskie rod. They have their marketing wrong, as it lists the rod for flipping/pitching heavy cover.. lol

Would you happen to have RDA on NFC 809? How about the SWB806? I was also considering the SWB806.

So...I need to back up. I have NOT used the XHF. Sorry, I misread.

I have built on several of St. Croix's 711HMF. Those blanks go just over 1,000 grams in power. Absolute tank. I can't even imagine what the XHF would produce but its got to be crazy.

The MB 809-1 went to 700 grams
The SWB 807-1 went to 1,100 grams
The SWB 808-1 went to 1,300 grams

So, I'd guess the SWB 806 to be more like 900 grams

Okay, that makes sense... looking at the SCV specs, I believe the Bass4 is more similar than the Carbon4. The Carbon4 just didn't seem up to my expectations. I didn't really examine the blank weight and butt diameter that closely and was more interested in the MF vs the F.

Really appreciate the specs on the NFC blanks. I have an SWB807 blank and that thing is stout!

Looking at the NFC website it almost seems like the MB809 and the SWB806 are equally powered, just different actions. Different bends, but the tips lands in the near same position under the same load. Of course that could be my misinterpretation.
