Point Blank 701LXF - Project “Vader”

When production rods are not enough, it's time to go custom. Come share your experiences building and/or ordering a custom rod and tell us if you'll ever go back to off the shelf.

I can only judge from the RX10 ETES610MXF I got at home… as already said in the other thread I’m not impressed at all. Weight is great, balance is ok but still it doesn’t feel as crisp, floaty and sharp as my Point Blanks or other high end rods like NRX+. For that little power it should feel like a BFS Adrena when you whip it - as if it had no mass to accelerate. Should…
I have the same criticism with NFC blanks like the XRay SJ703, too, but haven’t handled a lot more of those (some 705IM/HM). Is that maybe less of a factor with long heavier rods as they’re all… heavy?

I‘m quite torn if I give the RX10s another chance. An actual power below the lightest Point Blank with still some backbone is still missing. Was I just unlucky with picking the ETES610MXF?

If I’m understanding you right , your saying that it’s lacking in the power dept?

I have the 74h and 72mh.

I was actually quite shocked at how thick the butt on the 74h is! Thicker than my PB761.

I will say I haven't felt anything that resonates quite like the point blanks. I think my xrays and point blank are equally as sensitive, the point blanks just feel a little different. Hard to explain.

On one hand way less power than expected - they said in their video a M spinning blank equals a ML casting power but this is rather a L. But that’s okay once u know their power ratings.

It’s rather let’s call it the weight-to-power ratio. If you work it, whip it, it feels as heavy as a heavier powered blank, even tho on paper it’s light in weight. My 69 ML point blank feels lighter in hand and that’s a big bump up in power.

Maybe time to show my latest re-build

Kuying conqueror aka MSX blank 6‘8MLBF
Stripped because the grip was way too long for such a light rod and the micro Alconites were also too small.
Rough polished the blank until the cross wrap stops to get rid of the gloss finish

103g before, 89g after
Size 4 Torzites

The Thunderbird! I like it. Previously in this thread, were you referring to the previous X10, or the relatively new Eternity blanks?

That's a good time just waitin' to happen right thar. What's the taper like on that MSX blank?
