Ayu is definitely knocking them out. Sightfishing in crystal clear water was the main reason I started painting, have to get those colors right to get that big bite. I think Ayu will be the one this summer.

Took me 3 drifts through this school of gators to get hooked up, but was worth the effort. Saw her coming in on it from a distance of 50yds or more, obviously knew she wanted it. Paused it until she got close, couple twitches and she started dancing with it before she decided to crush it! Started with the Flash Minnow but I think it was to loud. Pointer 78SR is much more quiet and got the bite I was after.

Thanks, it’s a Speckled Trout, also known as Spotted Seatrout. They are fast, aggressive fish, and are similar to bass with the patterns and some techniques used to catch them.

Those look awesome, that cracked finish is sweet. Great looking baits, that pic with the bass says it all! Custom paints definitely help with the confidence no matter what bait your throwing.

A few more recent big trout catches on my painted baits. These were all sightfished, no better way to see how’s fish reacts to a color/lure. My Natural Ayu pattern has been killing it lately!

Recently picked up an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS, and the difference was immediately noticeable. Paint looks so much smoother, and it’s much easier to layer colors. Still need to work on trigger control so I can get that detail work dialed in.

Yep those are speckled seatrout.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

These 2 patterns have been catching a lot of nice fish around here, so I’ve been getting some requests from friends for repaints. Did these Jackall Bonnies and I like the way they turned out. Always interesting what a mistake can lead to. Here’s a couple pics, before and after.

Nice paint jobs!
I cut way down on hook rash by coating the swing path of the hooks with clear nail polish.

Thanks Mark! I appreciate the advice, the tip on using super glue to stop hook rash worked great. Used the Gorilla Glue with the brush and normal tip(best glue for fishing I’ve found period) and looks perfect. Very clear and smooth when dried. Just have to make sure the lure is dry first. Made that mistake once and learned my lesson. I’ll be sure to look into using the Nail Polish.

These are the pics that make me happy. This is one of those Bonnies I painted for a friend, and he’s already seeing success with it and sending some pics like this nice redfish. Love it!

Well, doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen now :( We took a pretty good hit on this one. Luckily it was no Ivan (Sally made landfall on the same exact date, in the same exact location at almost the exact time Ivan made landfall in 2004), but the damage is still pretty severe. Orange Beach is looking rough.
