New to float tubing

Post by dbrown525 » Wed May 05, 2004 12:00 pm

I'm looking at purchasing a float tube for use in lakes for Bass and in some inshore back water for drum and trout.

I've looked at the Outcast fat cat (very nice) and the Kennebec, from Trout Unlimited. The boat from TU is much cheaper but still has some very nice features.

Has anyone out there used this model? If so, is it worth the money for a first timer or should I save up for the Fat Cat?

Welcome to the Forum!!!

I don't own those brands, but when looking at features,
I look for it being aerodynamic, at least 2 bladders, 3+ prefered,
and how high you sit up on the tube. Higher you sit, the easier
to cast, but mine sits pretty darn low, but I still manage to
cast well and catch fish. I don't believe in paying too
much for a TUBE, but then you get better quality material with some
of them.

Thanks for the reply. I'm actually thinking about the TU Bighorn. I like how much bigger it is than some other traditional float tubes on the market. Plus, it is really not that much of an investment for a first time tuber like myself.
