Re: Boat Recommendation
I know its missing the back deck and is real plain, but this is a real nice boat. Ive been eyeing it at the local sport shows this past winter.
-It'll be really stable, as all lunds are.
-lunds are bullet-proof. Great reputation.
-a 25 horse tiller is removable, but will still push the boat pretty good when you want it on the boat.
-nice front deck with a livewell.
-comes in under your price range.

I've got the 1754SC with a 75 optimax and love it. The 16' should be lite enought to tow with a small car.

Im considering this

or this
http://legendboats.com/en/boats/xgs_tl
I think it's right in the sweet spot for me. Price is up there, but your definitely get some great features rolled in.

Re: Boat Recommendation
Lund wants 8 grand for a 25 horse on there boat.
And legend wants 10 grand for a 9.9 on there boat.
They're are basically the same boat, but the legend has a little back deck which is nice.
Lund has a proven history, and it seems like the better deal to me. You can't go wrong with either though

Re: Boat Recommendation
Check out he Yamaha G3's and also boats by Lowe. I had a Stinger Pro 15 that I hauled with a Plymouth Horizon.
If it were me and just comparing, the Tracker looks like a deal, if you could live with a 20 HP motor. Guessing you have lakes with a 10HP limit so I'd grab the Yamaha G3. 1548FL looks like a perfect fit to me.

Nice layouts and multiple layout available, center console, side console, no console. Some with built in rod locker. Configure it with a 9.9 HP and your golden. Personally I'd avoid boats with carpet, The Yamaha can be hosed out.
You so have the option to add carpet if you are inclined or do some interior modification if the spirit moves you. If you plan of pulling the outboard for electric only lake, get a tiller control and don't mess with the steering and throttle controls. Keeps life simple.
Also check Craig's List and others as these come up for sale occasionally and at huge discount.

Re: Boat Recommendation
Keep in mind things are little pricier here in Canada, where the Legends are sold. The Legend is also much more feature rich, having fishfinder, trolling motor, seats, and etc included.agggh wrote:Lund wants 8 grand for a 25 horse on there boat.

Also, the upgrade to the 25HP 2 stroke is free, and I am not really partial to 4 or 2 stroke.

Re: Boat Recommendation
Living in Canada I would look at all the Polar Kraft models in your price range. Wish I could see them. Here are some options.
Alumacraft Lunker 2 - Built in fuel tank, riveted
G3 V167T - Built in fuel tank, some weld some riveted
Crestliner Kodiak 16, portable fuel, welded
Lund Fury 16, portable fuel, riveted
I believe Tracker is gonna be the only option with two casting decks. Some of the boats listed have side rod lockers, some in floor. It really comes down to what layout you prefer, such as where the live well is located. I prefer an all welded boat, so I went with Crestliner (Fish Hawk). Most of the boats I mentioned have very similar specs such as beam, transom, weight, capacity. Let us know what you get!
