DISASTER

Post by BucketHunter » Mon Jun 25, 2012 9:49 pm

I am on holidays this week, solely for the purpose of bass fishing.
A couple of days planned out in a friends bass boat, but the rest is to be spent in my 14ft aluminum.
I was servicing my trolling motor tonight, lubing, cleaning connections etc, as it had developed a few little kinks that needed to be ironed out. It is a Motorguide Magnum 745, and it has been bullet proof for damn near 20 years.
I had everything worked out, and put back together and was rocking the pedal back and forth to distribute the grease inside when the pedal snapped off the base, pretty much ending that motors life, and ruining my week of fishing.
I can't bring myself to buy a new motor to haul my old boat around, and used takes some time to seal a deal usually.
My week is shot. I've been waiting for this week since last November (bass season in Canada) and now I can't even go.
I am looking at all the gear I've purchased this winter just sitting there, and It makes me want to puke.
Might try to find an old one for parts
Thanks for listening.
Set hard and set often

That sucks!!! I feel your pain, I've had a couple of vacation ruined over the years because of boat troubles. Boat never seem to crap out at an aproprate time, like the last hour of vacation.

That really sucks. I don't know where you are at but you might check craigslist for a cheap replacement.

agreed, check craigslist. If you have a large lake nearby people are always offloading motors on the cheap.
