The time has come where I will finally get to buy my first bass boat. The question is which one to get. I have found two used boats that are they same price. One is a 1988 Stratos 201 XL Pro with a 200 hp mercury. The other is a 1996 Javelin 379 SE with a 150 Johnson. The Javelin just had carpet and seats redone. I have not seen either one in person, but they both seem like good deals, the Javelin is 17'9 and the stratos is 20'2. Which one do you think is the better buy? Here are links to them both. They both look pretty clean and well taken care of but it is hard to tell from pictures. All things being equal, which one would be the best.

Re: Bassboat decision
Stratos of its in good shape.. The extra length and HP will be nicer for big water..
If you fish mainly small waters the javelin looks good

Re: Bassboat decision
if your bringing someone with you and your fishing 8 foot roods, the longer the boat the better. I ride in the back of my friends boat when not in my yak and having a lot of room when fishing swimbaits is better.
Re: Bassboat decision
I always recommend that you should get the biggest boat and motor you can afford. There is much less chance that you will grow out of a bigger boat vs a smaller one.

Make sure you have the motor checked out. I would go with the Stratos as noted earlier
