So I received this GoPro as a gift, and want to use it this season, but have no idea what all I may need to use it effectively as well as keep it safe from damage- and I know there are a heck of a lot of accessories out there for it, but what ones do I definitely need? Honestly I don't know a damn thing about it, haven't even taken it out of the package yet. Hoping some folks here who have them can give me some info and point me in the right direction...

A little more information would help. Are you going to use it to record fishing trips or fish catches? What did you have in mind for use?

I had same problems when I first got my hero 3, after few skiing trips, I decided to get something for it, so I bought the helmet mount and a selfie stick. a year later, I found someone was selling a package on Kijiji, so I upgraded my hero 3 to hero 4, it also came with Jaw mount, chest mount, extra batteries, extra open back housing... so what I suggest is go find some "package", that really gonna save you a lot. cheers!
