Berkley’s PowerBait Infused Spinnerbaits – The Power Blade Series

Image

Introduction:
While the Berkley Slobberknocker bladed jig received the lion’s share of attention this season thanks to a strong ICAST launch, one product rollout that has flew somewhat under the radar but is of similar importance are the new Berkley spinnerbaits. The Berkley Power Blade spinnerbaits are designed with numerous custom elements including signature blades, sleek heads molded around sharp Fusion 19 hooks, and perhaps most importantly, hand tied PowerBait infused skirting material designed to attract fish.

those skirts wire-tied on, or are they elastics?

In case Zander doesn't see your question... from the review (no mention if it's wire or thread):

"The hand tied skirts also have stayed intact and interestingly the Power Bait scent continues to be present on baits that I have already fished for over three months. That ever-present scent isn’t overbearing and doesn’t leech over into other baits when stored together. Finally, the paint finish and eyes are also decent and while I experienced some paint scratches and chipping this is standard fare for spinnerbaits. Don’t be afraid to put them in harms way and it is often that deflection or rip through structure that gets the job done. One of the best attributes about spinnerbaits is their ability to be fished in, and around, heavy cover and the Power Blade is built tough enough to shoulder that abuse."

thank you Sir.

I didn't realize hand tied meant "non elastic". But now it's making sense in the numerous descriptions I've read for spinnerbaits, jigs, and chatterbaits.

kind of an obvious oversight on my part.

These look awesome however for those of us up North we need closed loop spinnerbaits so a steel leader can be attached.

Pike hammer them lol

but in a bass only area I guess the safety pin type are ok.

one of my pet peeves though: closed loop type spinnerbaits are usually thicker wire and hold up better. its a cost cutting thing for manufacturers to make them the other way with thinner cheap wire LOL

For what it's worth, the open eye can be "fixed" by sliding a #2 split ring over the opening and then attaching a snap of larger diameter than the split ring. Presumably the steel leader will have that snap for attachement, anyway.
