Defying the Status Quo : ARK Fishing Creates Their Own Gravity Baitcasters

Image

Introduction:
Back in July of '22, we previewed ARK Fishing's exciting announcement of their brand new line of fishing reels. Given the number of rod and lure manufacturers delving into this segment of the market, it's easy to assume ARK is leveraging the same or similar resources as the majority of these other upstarts. Well, I'm pleased to say, to make such an assumption about ARK's new Gravity 7 (G7) would be in error. Let's take a closer look.

These are kind of neat. They use an Shimano like FTB mounted on the palming plate and a 4 position inductor from a Ray's Long Cast spool. Instead of FTB acting on the ID of the spool it works on the OD of the inductor. You also get the ability to adjust the inductor length in addition to the braking force via the dial. Its a shallower 12 gram spool too on the G5. I wonder how it skipps?

Neat little reel, and so much akin to Daiwa in the form factor. Also, this is a unique take on how to maximize the versatility of braking systems and essentially almost achieves the same application as Daiwa's 3-D Magforce, IMO.

Pretty sure Haibo makes these. They have the same braking system in one of their reels for a similar price. Also am pretty sure Haibo is the OEM behind the Ray's Studio stuff too which explains the Ray's Long Cast 4 position inductor on these reels. Early DIY spools looked like Haibo Smart 50 spools in construction and one of the earliest DIY spools was for the Haibo Steed.
