Introduction: Crankbait fishing is one of the few techniques that remains effective year-round, and during the colder months in particular, success often comes from driving baits deeper to reach suspended fish or those holding tight to the bottom. While Stealth Stixx offers a broad lineup of rods across multiple bass fishing applications, the brand has developed a particularly strong following for its Fathom cranking rods, shaped in large part by input from co-founder, professional angler, and West Coast crankbait specialist Randy McAbee. Here, we take a closer look at the Fathom series, focusing specifically on the 2 Fathoms Cranking Rod, a purpose-built model designed to fish medium to deep diving crankbaits.

According to their website, the guide closest to the reel eliminates all the line problems, so why not just put that one on you own rod builds?

Lots of people do just that, especially with stripper guide for a spinning rod.

Will an improved Alberto braid to fluoro knot pass through those guides?
Can the guides be bought separately, or only in sets?

i'm sure connection knots are fine through the guide and i'm also pretty sure you can purchase it separately.

Seems they had to add A LOT of weight to these to counter balance the extra weight of those guides. 7oz for a MH carbon rod is extremely heavy, no better than fiberglass rods. You are basically doubling the weight on the tip by having two guides for each one. No way I would build with those guides. Grab a Fuji RV and some 5’s to finish it out and it’s perfect balance with zero line issues.
