Would like to know whether the Luna 253 level wind engage or disengage when casting. With that I would also like to know if it is possible to interchange those parts into a cvz 253. Thank you

Luna 253 has a disengaging level wind. Sorry no experience with swapping parts.

These parts are interchangeable between the two reels.

Is it possible to get gears with a faster gear ratio for the 253 mine is a little slow for fishing in rivers with much current, I would love to be able to speed it up, it would make all the difference in picking up slack while float fishing Salmon, right now I'm struggling to keep up at times.

Only the 203 and 103/105 series have higher speed gears available. I believe the millionaire sw203 ( the red and black ones)had 6.3:1 gears. Have not seen a high speed option for 253 and 300 reels. The 103/105 reels can swap with gears from pixy and alphas reels.

Kurt, you should be able to utilize gears for the 203/205 in the 253 reels as they share the same internals. Frame, spool, worm and gear are different due to the wider frame of the 253.

Thank you, I will try to locate a set, I'm not sure were to get Daiwa parts at yet? if it was Shimano it would be no problem. I'm just starting to shift some of my gear to Daiwa after years of the other brand
