BFS going mainstream? Curado BFS

I got one on the way. Can't wait to see how it stacks up to other BFS reels.

I'd be surprised if it was anything different from the Scorpion BFS.

Even at that, it's a long-overdue step in the right direction for the US market.

Swap the bearings, minimal nylon backing and top shot of 6lb line and your away...

I can see it becoming very popular for crappies, trout and river smallies. I use mine for walleye a bunch and its so much more fun than your standard spinning gear.

Are you using it for lead heads for walleye?

I use it on everything (but primarily lead heads, yea), just swapping rods. Been fishing walleye with bfs gear for over five years at this point, and i could never see myself going back. Just trying a buddy spinning setup for walleye feels like a massive downgrade and way less fun on the water.

I agree. I like to be able to grab 1 setup and walk the bank for walleye. With spinning gear, going from an 1/8oz jig plus plastic to a jerkbait is kinda odd for me. Working a jerkbait with a spinning rod feels wierd. The lighter Rapala RipStops are perfect for BFS.

I actually put a deposit down for the slx bfs but just canceled it yesterday when i saw the curado bfs is coming out. Not sure what the difference is between those two but i know the slx bfs cost more.

BFS reels actually do quite well ice fishing. I use mine for dropping tungsten jogs down deep for perch and trout.

I've been using the CH50Mg and CU50E for several years now for ice fishing. This BFS is what I've been waiting for all this time.

Now if they would just add that quick release like on the Castiac flipping reel.

Same weight as the Alphas Air Stream Custom but with approx twice the line capacity (50 yds 8 lb vs 45 yds 4 lb). The Conquest/Alde BFS holds 45 yds 6 lb...
I am not really going anywhere with this except to say that line capacity should not be a problem.

I am not really going anywhere with this except to say that line capacity should not be a problem.

I doubt that Curado BFS got much more line capacity than Aldebaran BFS. Curado BFS 0.23mm @ 50yds (Shimano Euro) while aldebaran BFS spec is 0.235mm @ 45m(50yds) JapanTackle.
