Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
Re: BFS going mainstream? Curado BFS
Odd that Shimano touts it as having an "ultra-lightweight spool" but doesn't state the spool weight.

Just use a CU70i...
Swap the bearings, minimal nylon backing and top shot of 6lb line and your away...

I use it on everything (but primarily lead heads, yea), just swapping rods. Been fishing walleye with bfs gear for over five years at this point, and i could never see myself going back. Just trying a buddy spinning setup for walleye feels like a massive downgrade and way less fun on the water.

Re: BFS going mainstream? Curado BFS
I agree. I like to be able to grab 1 setup and walk the bank for walleye. With spinning gear, going from an 1/8oz jig plus plastic to a jerkbait is kinda odd for me. Working a jerkbait with a spinning rod feels wierd. The lighter Rapala RipStops are perfect for BFS.SSS wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 4:37 amI use it on everything (but primarily lead heads, yea), just swapping rods. I actually put a deposit down for the slx bfs but just canceled it yesterday when i saw the curado bfs is coming out. Not sure what the difference is between those two but i know the slx bfs cost more.

A 9 g. spool holding only 50 yds. of 8 lb. test mono will be light indeed!jvelth74 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 10:45 am9 g spool in this new video by today:

Yeah, definitely going to be a dedicated ice fishing reel for me.

BFS reels actually do quite well ice fishing. I use mine for dropping tungsten jogs down deep for perch and trout.slipperybob wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 8:09 pmYeah, definitely going to be a dedicated ice fishing reel for me.

I've been using the CH50Mg and CU50E for several years now for ice fishing. This BFS is what I've been waiting for all this time.Hobie-Wan Kenobi wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 9:10 pmBFS reels actually do quite well ice fishing. Now if they would just add that quick release like on the Castiac flipping reel.

Re: BFS going mainstream? Curado BFS
Same weight as the Alphas Air Stream Custom but with approx twice the line capacity (50 yds 8 lb vs 45 yds 4 lb). The Conquest/Alde BFS holds 45 yds 6 lb...Bronzeye wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 6:05 pmA 9 g. spool holding only 50 yds. of 8 lb. test mono will be light indeed!jvelth74 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 10:45 am9 g spool in this new video by today:

I am not really going anywhere with this except to say that line capacity should not be a problem.
Re: BFS going mainstream? Curado BFS
I doubt that Curado BFS got much more line capacity than Aldebaran BFS. Curado BFS 0.23mm @ 50yds (Shimano Euro) while aldebaran BFS spec is 0.235mm @ 45m(50yds) JapanTackle.Dalleinf wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 11:29 pmSame weight as the Alphas Air Stream Custom but with approx twice the line capacity (50 yds 8 lb vs 45 yds 4 lb).
