Performance at a professional Level? Bass Pro Shops' Pro Qualifier Casting Reel

Image

Introduction: Products from large-scale retailers like Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops don't get a whole lot of press here at TackleTour, but that doesn't mean we don't keep an eye on what they are producing. Though reviews can be pretty mixed on some of these offerings, the Pro Qualifier from Bass Pro Shops has always had a noticeable following. We wanted to find out for ourselves how this reel stacks up to similar reels from more mainstream manufacturers like Shimano, Daiwa, and the like.

I don't think many seasoned anglers are fooled by claims many make about the PQ in terms of build quality and performance. I thought the review was fair and spot on. One comment that I wish the reviewer had followed up on a little was his claim that he felt there were other reels in the same price range that were better. Which ones? IMHO seems the PQ still remains a very solid choice in its price range, and a very good reel for those just getting started with BC reels or someone not looking to invest to much into a BC reel. A few upgrades make the reel much nicer and a reel a new Angler could grow with and learn to perform at least basic maintenance on without as much fear of ruining a reel.

Also I believe the reel is manufactured in Korea and not China, Doyo, Mfg. if I am not mistaken.

I don't know who manufactures them, but I have seen them with both Korea and China as the manufacturing origin; even on two reels in store that were side by side.

Interesting, I have not seen one with the China markings on it. After I posted this, I did go an look for some information on-line, I did find that Doyo Engineering does have a facility in China. So this would be my mistake.
