Edge Rods Expands Their Product Offering

Edge Rods Expands Their Product Offering

Image

Introduction: Edge Rods by North Fork Composites made a rather auspicious if not ostentatious debut in the bass fishing world last year with the introduction of their first series of bass rods the Black Widow. These rods were built with performance in mind and provided no compromises for mass market appeal. Those who approached the sticks with an open mind were rewarded, those who could not bring themselves to take the plunge were left in the dark. But no matter, Edge Rods has two new series planned for the coming year and this time, there is some mass market appeal.

New Edge nickel black rods

Post by spookybaits »

Did you guys see this? The edge hm black widow rods are going down in price and there's a new totl rod called the nickel black rod:
Nickel Black Series: Another bit of news from Edge is their existing, Black Widow line of bass rods will receive a price decrease down to a range of between $350 - $425. This makes room for a new topdog, the Nickel Black series built with a mix of Fuji Torzite and REC Black pearl Recoil guides, and a unique, nickel infused carbon grip. Rods from this series will range between $549 - $599 per stick.

The Black Widow already uses the highest quality blank and Ti-SiC guides. Are they just charging more now for a few more expensive guides and a fancier handle?

Why did my post get moved from the rod section? Is it not applicable to that forum? I posted it there because that's where the bulk of the rod discussion is.

I didn't want to comment on it, but... I like everything about the new rods better than the widow, except for the recoils. It it had all torzite guides I'd definitely get one.

You started a new thread talking about the article with this one already here. That's why it was moved.

Actually- I posted a thread about the subject of the article, not the article itself.
We can split hairs on this all day. :D

I posted in the rod discussion forum because... It's a rod. And I was looking for discussion & opinions.

So since its just you & me here... Let's discuss the new Nickel Black rod. What's your opinion on it? Thoughts on the blank? Is it the same as the black widow? Asthethics? what do you think about black nickel recoil guides Cal? Would you rather have a rod with all Ti/sic guides or a mix of torzite & recoil?
Do you think the swimbait rods are IM graphite instead of HM like they were on the black widows? Other than (some) of the guides being torzite, what seats this rod higher in the lineup than the black widow?
Does using a mix of high end guides & recoils remind you of any other rod?
You moved me here, so let's talk about it bud :D

@Cal I know, I'm just messing around.
I figured I'd try to get some rod info/impressions from ya while I was at it 8-)

I like the type and orange & white lettering on it. Big fan of that. I can think of a few reels that would look sick on that rod... :)

We see way too much product in too short of a time to really get a feel for anything during ICAST.

Given we don't have any EFX rods on hand at TTHQ (yet), not for a while and we're still working through several of the original Black Widow series too.
